Showcase Your Desktop Screen on control room Video Wall with NDI: A Complete Guide

Learn how to use NDI to capture your desktop computer's screen and display it on your video wall screens

Introduction


In this guide we will instruct you step-by-step on how to capture a desktop computer's screen and stream it over the network, using NDI to present it on your video wall's screens.

Please note
This option is using OBS Studio as the application that broadcasts the stream on the video wall screens.

Step 1: Download and Install NDI tools


1. Download and install the NewTek NDI Tools software on the desktop computer that you want to capture the screen from. This software includes the NDI Screen Capture utility, which allows you to capture the desktop screen and output it as an NDI stream on your video wall screens.


2. Configure the NDI Screen Capture utility to capture the desktop screen. This involves selecting the appropriate screen or monitor to capture and adjusting the capture settings, such as the resolution and frame rate.





Step 2: Download the OBS Studio plugin for NDI


1. Download and install the latest NDI Plugin from this link, located in the Install section.

2. Download and install the NDI Runtime installer.



Step3: Open OBS Studio application and add a new NDI source



1. Open OBS Studio and create a new scene by clicking the "+" button in the Scenes box at the bottom left of the window.

2. Add a new source to the scene by clicking the "+" button in the Sources box at the bottom left of the window and selecting "NDI Source".



3. In the NDI Source properties window, click the "Sources Name" to discover the NDI stream from the desktop computer. Select the desired source from the list and click OK.



The NDI stream should appear on your Canvas and ready to show on the video wall screens:
